Houthi Missile Intercepted by Saudi Arabia

Arab Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki. Asharq Al-Awsat

Saudi air defenses on Thursday intercepted a ballistic missile over the southern city of Jazan after it was fired by Houthis in Yemen, the Arab Coalition said.

Debris from the missile landed in residential areas of Jazan without causing casualties, Coalition Spokesman Turki al-Maliki said in a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency.

He reiterated that the new attack by Iran-backed Houthi insurgents proves the Tehran regime’s support to the armed militias in violation of UN Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231.

Such attacks aim to threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and that of the region and the world, said Maliki.

He added that firing missiles on populated areas is considered a violation of international humanitarian law.
