Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said Saturday that drones hit the Shaybah natural gas liquefaction facility, causing a small fire.

In a statement condemning the attack, Falih said there had been “no injuries” and that the fire had been put out.

While stressing that there were “no interruptions to the Kingdom’s oil production and exports from the terrorist attack,” Falih said that attacks on Saudi oil facilities target global oil supply.

Saturday’s “cowardly attack shows once again the importance of the international community confronting all terrorist groups that carry out such sabotage acts, including the Iran-backed Houthi militias.”

Meanwhile, state-owned energy company Saudi Aramco said it controlled a limited fire at the gas plant.

"Saudi Aramco's response team controlled a limited fire this morning at the Shaybah natural gas liquefaction facility," the energy giant said.

"There were no injuries and no interruptions to Saudi Aramco’s oil operations," it added.
