All You Really Need To Know About Houston (31-3)
(American Athletic), NCAA NET Rank: 4. Midwest 3-seed
Extremely deep and very dangerous on both ends of the court, the Cougars managed to the AAC regular season title, but dropped the tournament championship to Cincinnati – it doesn’t matter. They’re going to be a factor due to their devastating offense and ridiculous depth. They work in ten players who get ten minutes or more on a regular basis, but it’s the scoring of guards Corey Davis and Armoni Brooks that do the heavy lifting.
The three-point shooting is good, but the three-point defense is even better – they attack the perimeter as well as anyone in the tournament. Forget about any second chances on the boards, and don’t get into a shootout. They’ll commit too many fouls and they’ll suffer power outages from time to time, but they’re the real deal.
All You Really Need To Know About Georgia State (24-9)
(Sun Belt), NCAA NET Rank: 121. Midwest 14-seed
The regular season Sun Belt champion ripped through the conference tournament to finish winning eight of their last nine. There’s not a whole lot of size, and it’s not the deepest of teams, but five Panthers average in double figures around star G D’Marcus Simonds.
They’re great from three and better at coming up with steals – the guards keep on attacking, and they keep on bombing away. They don’t to anything on the boards, and they can’t hit a free throw, but they’ll force a whole lot of mistakes and do well in transition.

What’s Going To Happen
It’ll seem like Georgia State can’t and won’t get a rebound. The Panthers have to hit from three to stay alive, but Houston has the second-best defense in the nation against the three – only Virginia is better. After losing the American Athletic title, the Cougars are about to come out roaring, especially on defense.
