TEAM NEEDS

Offensive Tackle
The Texans need to prioritize protecting Deshaun Watson in this draft. The first position they absolutely need to upgrade is the tackle spot. Even if they intend to start new tackle Ryan Kalil on one side, which really isn’t much of an upgrade, they could still use a starter on the other side. They need to start protecting Watson first and foremost.
Offensive Guard
Offensive tackle is a major need and so is offensive guard. Projected starters Zach Fulton and Kelemete Senio are below average players and that is just not good enough going forward with Watson. Adding a guard or two in this draft class could go a long way towards sustained success for this team.
Cornerback
The Texans’ secondary was bad last year. They were consistently burned deep for big plays all season. Going into 2019, they lost Tyrann Mathieu and added Bradley Roby who struggled mightily with the Broncos last year. They need to consider adding a quality cornerback early in this draft who can step in and immediately contribute.
Wide Receiver
With the departure of Demaryius Thomas in free agency and Will Fuller’s injury history, the Texans could use another receiver on the outside to pair with DeAndre Hopkins. Preferably the receiver they add could possess great route running ability and an underneath game that would pair well with Hopkins, Fuller, and Coutee’s deep ability.
Running Back
Running back isn’t a dire need for the team as Lamar Miller was decent last season. The team would be wise though to add a playmaking receiving back through the draft. Adding another weapon to Watson’s arsenal in the form of a pass catching back could really help his development.
TOP TARGETS

Andre Dillard | OT | Washington State
The Texans need a pass protector and Dillard may be the best one in this class. He has excellent feet and athleticism for a tackle. Add in that he has taken the most reps in pass protection that any other tackle in the class and has a ton of upside and he would be a home run pick for the Texans in round one.
Dalton Risner | OT | Kansas State
The Texans more than anything just need an identity up front. They need to establish physicality and need a true leader on the front lines. Risner may not be the most gifted athlete or natural tackle, but he offers so much in terms of leadership and effort that it would be an excellent add for a team that needs a culture change on the line.
Amani Oruwariye | CB | Penn State
The Texans could use an immediate contributor at corner. Oruwariye is lengthy, offers great athleticism, and can play well in both man or zone. His upside is good enough to be taken in round one and he would fit in well with the veterans already on the Texans’ defense.
