Houston Rockets free agency target: Danny Green

Even with a fully healthy team, for the fourth time in five years, the Houston Rockets’ season came to an end in the NBA playoffs thanks to the Golden State Warriors.

Heading into the offseason, the Rockets have no NBA draft picks to offer, no cap space to work with and two very heavy contracts belonging to James Harden and Chris Paul.

Yet, there is still the possibility the front office can make some moves, make some trades and snag some worthwhile free agents this summer.

RocketsWire is exploring and breaking down those free agents, and what they can offer to the team.

Danny Green

If the Rockets are going to continue to shoot three-pointers with such fervor, they need to look at seriously adding better shooters.

Green had a fantastic season with the Toronto Raptors — their season isn’t over yet — shooting 45.5 percent from downtown.

Furthermore, despite getting older, he continues to play better defense, having been on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team as recently as the 2016-17 season.

Green is versatile, agile and has a history of making big-time shots in the playoffs. The Rockets were very hot and cold throughout the playoffs this season but always got hot after a big-time three-pointer. Hi, Danny Green.

The Rockets have to find a way to get around the cap space, so there’s a chance that he would accept the mid-level exception (MLE) to play for a team that has a serious shot, with the right pieces, of winning the NBA championship. Green, 31, made $10 million last season.
