Houston DT Ed Oliver visiting Raiders on Friday

One player who has seemingly fallen out of the discussion at pick No. 4 for the Raiders is defensive tackle Ed Oliver of Houston. Despite being a two-time All-American, Oliver hasn’t received enough attention inside of the top-five.

That could prove to be unwise as the Raiders are visiting with Oliver on Friday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

In three seasons at Houston, Oliver totaled 53 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks. During the NFL Combine and his Pro Day, he tested as one of the best athletes to ever play the position, according to 3sigmaathlete.com. He is a highly athletic defensive tackle who would be best suited to play three-technique in Oakland.

Oliver’s closest comparison on the field is Aaron Donald but could have a Geno Atkins type of impact in Paul Guenther’s defense. If Oakland wants to add more speed to their defense, don’t count out Oliver as a potential selection for the Raiders with their top pick.
