Defensively, Houston forced 18 turnovers and capitalized on them by scoring 30 points off turnovers. The Cougars' relentless pressure on defense limited Kansas to just 33% shooting and a mere 3 for 21 from beyond the arc.

With this victory, Houston extended their winning streak to nine games and secured their 12th regular-season conference championship, marking their fifth title in the last six seasons under coach Kelvin Sampson.

Despite a valiant effort from Kansas' Hunter Dickinson, who contributed 11 points and six rebounds before exiting the game due to a shoulder injury, the Jayhawks struggled to find their rhythm and suffered their third loss in the last four games.

The game was a stark contrast to their previous meeting on Feb. 3, where Kansas emerged victorious with a 78-65 win. However, in this rematch, Houston dominated from start to finish, showcasing their resilience and determination.

Looking ahead, Kansas will open the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, aiming to bounce back from their recent road struggles. On the other hand, Houston will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed, poised to continue their impressive run and pursue further success.

As the regular season comes to a close, both teams will reflect on their performances and make necessary adjustments as they prepare for the challenges that lie ahead in the postseason.
