Will Arsenal sign another midfielder on transfer deadline day?
That is the question many Gunners fans will be asking themselves with just 24 hours of the extended summer window to go.
Mikel Arteta has been keen to strengthen his midfield options, with the likes of Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil all left on the fringes of his squad.
Thomas Partey, Houssem Aouar and Jorginho have all been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with all three bringing different qualities.
But one player who will not be arriving on transfer deadline day is Aouar.
The Lyon midfielder had emerged as the strongest candidate to come in and bolster Arteta's options in recent weeks, but Arteta has needed to let players go before bringing a new man in.
That has not happened as yet, although Guendouzi and Torreira both look set to leave before the window closes.
And Aouar has stayed put.
Lyon put a deadline of their own on getting a transfer done - that deadline was Friday and it came and went with no move, with reports emerging on Saturday evening that he had had a meeting with the club's hierarchy and decided to stay.
Aouar scored in Lyon's draw with Marseille on Sunday evening and was asked about Arsenal's interest.
He said: "I felt that I could still bring things to this team and the club, the club that raised me, quite simply."
It appears he has unfinished business with Lyon and did not want to make the move.
