Houssem Aouar in, Thomas Partey deal, Lucas Torreira exit - Arsenal transfer Q&A live

Good afternoon and welcome to our latest Arsenal Q&A with football.london club writer Art de Roche.

With just a week left in the summer transfer window, focus is quickly turning to both the incoming and outgoing business the Gunners will look to achieve before October 5.

As things stand, Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu Gaspar will be fairly satisfied with the signings made in what has proven to be a challenge window for clubs across the globe.

Signing Willian on a free transfer following the expiration of his Chelsea contract brought much-needed experience as well as another creative body behind his stroke force. Then came the addition of another left-footed centre-back in Gabriel Magalhaes, who has impressed in his early weeks at the club.

Dani Ceballos returning on another loan spell was another promising piece of business as he'll look to build on his partnership with Granit Xhaka. Runar Alex Runarsson has arrived to replace Emi Martinez and now attention is back to the central midfield area, an area Arsenal are looking to strengthen with Houssem Aouar.

football.london understands that the Gunners are ready to increase their offer to £36.5million (€40million) with a further £9million in potential add-ons (€10million), after an initial bid of £32million (€35million) was rejected.

Interest remains in Thomas Partey, and the potential exit of Lucas Torreira could help Arsenal grease the wheels to potentially bring their two biggest targets to the club before the deadline.

Elsewhere, tonight [September 28] Arsenal face Liverpool in their third Premier League game of the season at Anfield. Kick off is 8pm and we have James Benge heading north to bring all the updates from the ground.

"It’s really important to start well but it’s important what happens after 20, 30, 80, 90 minutes. It's a team that is really consistent in its performance, able to constrain the opponent to do very little against them and can dominate long periods of games," Arteta said ahead of the game.

You have to be able, when you have the right opportunities, to be ruthless. You have to do that and as well you have to be able to suffer for periods. You know and you have to expect that they’re going to have those periods.
