Houssem Aouar has opened up about his failed transfer to Arsenal in the transfer window.
The Gunners were desperate to add a new creative midfielder to their squad and Aouar was thought to be their number one target.
An initial bid for Aouar was rejected by Lyon last weekend and the Gunners were planning to make an improved second bid to get a deal over the line on deadline day.
But the French midfielder eventually declared that he was staying at the Groupama stadium, leaving Arsenal to pursue a deal for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey instead.
The 22-year-old made his France debut on Tuesday, starting in the 7-1 win over Ukraine.
On Thursday, he was asked about the Arsenal speculation and whether he was happy to be staying.
“Of course I asked myself all the necessary questions," he said.
“I am in the headspace to have a great season with my club and get back the points that we have lost.
“So of course we are going to try to do the best season and to try to put the team and the club back in its rightful place, at the top of France.
“Disappointed? I am the opposite.
“I am at home, in the club that I love, with my friends and my family.
“So certainly I have all my bearings and it is giving me even more motivation to have a good season and to bring the club back into the top places in France.”
