Houssem Aouar drops cryptic transfer hint sending Arsenal fans into overdrive

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar appears to have dropped a hint about his future as he continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal.

France international Aouar was believed to be a target for the Gunners last summer, before they dropped their interest to secure a deal for Thomas Partey.

Aouar is now being linked with a January switch to north London, despite playing 13 times in Ligue 1 this season, scoring three times.

His unrest at Lyon was hinted as he recently retweeted a message from team-mate Memphis Depay that hinted the striker would be on his way next month.

Former United attacker Depay tweeted last month: “Y’all will appreciate me when im gone. Enjoy the Sunday.”

Aouar echoing those thoughts clearly got plenty of Arsenal fans excited that he was set to follow suit.

One wrote: “This is pretty telling.”

As another added: “Houssem was watching Arteta’s tricky reds batter Chelsea.”

And one tagged him before sharing: “WELCOME TO THE EMIRATES MY FRIEND.”

Another hint that Aouar could be on his way in January came from Lyon sporting director Juninho, who admitted that there would be plenty of changes next month, though he insisted that key players, including Aouar and Depay most likely, would not be sold.

Juninho said: "There will be changes, but more for players who are going to leave like is the case of Jean Lucas, that was already planned. Rudi has asked for him to leave to play a bit more.

"The key players, they are not going to be moved. I hope above all that we maintain this level, that is the most important thing."
