Houssem Aouar blow for Arsenal as second bid rejected by hardline Lyon chief

Lyon have reportedly rejected a second bid from Arsenal for Houssem Aouar, as they hold firm on their valuation of the midfielder.

The Gunners are believed to have agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old, and moving ahead of Juventus and Barcelona in the race for his signature.

Taking him to the Premier League will not be cheap though, with OL president Jean-Michel Aulas known for his tough negotiating style.

The Ligue 1 club rejected an opening offer of around £33million and it seems Arsenal have a way to go yet.

According to French outlet RMC a second bid of €38m (£34.7m) has been knocked back, as Lyon hold out for their valuation of €50m.

That will come as no real surprise, with Aulas taking to Twitter on Saturday to declare that the English side were a long way short with their first offer.

He wrote: "Arsenal are a long way away from his value.

"We are counting on him to play a great match in Lorient and lead OL in the Champions League next year."

Aouar was a key part of the Lyon side that reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.
