Four senior housing figures have received CBEs in the 2015 New Year honours list.
David Bennett, who has been group chief executive at Sanctuary housing association for 22 years, receives his award for services to social housing while Keith Exford, who has headed Affinity Sutton housing association for more than 20 years, is recognised for services to housing in London.
Shakuntala Ghosh, the former chief executive of homelessness charity Crisis, receives a CBE for services to philanthropy and the voluntary sector, while Margaret Clark, chair of Hastoe Housing and a previous OBE recipient, gets a CBE for services to rural communities.
Among those honoured with an OBE include Dr Tim Robson, a GP who left his former practice to set up a surgery that specialises in providing primary care for homeless people, and Joan Baird, a board member for Clanmil Housing Association in Northern Ireland.
Mark McGreevy, the chief executive of homelessness charity Depaul International, receives an OBE for services to homeless people in the UK and abroad, while the government’s lead for rough sleeping and single homelessness, Stephen Guyon, is also honoured with an OBE.
David Ashmore, the chief executive of Greensquare housing association, receives an MBE. Diana Kay from the Department for Communities and Local Government is also recognised with an MBE for services to housing.
Also receiving MBEs are Paul Cheeseman for his work for Great Yarmouth borough council; Denis Curran, the founder of the Loaves and Fishes homelessness charity in Glasgow whose evidence on welfare reforms to a Scottish parliament committee went viral earlier this year; and Alfred Grummet, head of temporary accommodation provider Haven in Newcastle upon Tyne.
