The site of a planned 84-home estate in a Nottinghamshire village has been sold to a housing company.
Northern Trust confirmed that it has completed the sale of the six-acre site in Calverton to Bellway Homes.
The site, which is located off Flatts Lane, and is situated approximately seven miles from Nottingham, was granted outline planning permission for up to 84 new homes by Gedling Borough Council last year.
Mike Grindrod, director at Northern Trust said: “We are delighted to have secured the sale of this strategic site to Bellway Homes, and look forward to seeing the development of the new homes which will create new jobs and investment for the local area.”
Simon Maddison, head of land at Bellway Homes East Midlands, added: “With the acquisition of this land, our plans to deliver a range of 82 high-quality new homes to the local area have been submitted to the local authority for approval”.
“The location of the proposed development will appeal to a variety of house hunters as it boasts a range of walkable amenities and is just a 20-minute drive from Nottingham city centre.
“We look forward to working with the local authority in finalising our detailed plans for the site and delivering these new homes.”
Northern Trust appointed Savills to market the site for sale.
Concerns have been previously raised about traffic accessing the estate as residents said the amount of traffic along the narrow stretch was a pressing issue - and that it seemed, at times, "like a motorway ".
