Housing charity withdraws services to Belfast homes after "threat to staff and contractors"

Services have been withdrawn from a Belfast community after staff and contractors received a threat, a housing charity has claimed.

Victoria Housing Estates said it had withdrawn services in the Riverdale/Finaghy area after receiving information of a threat to its staff and contractors.

It said it would "work with local representatives to find a resolution and get services resumed".

In a statement on Wednesday, the housing charity said: "Victoria Housing Estates received information of a threat to its staff and contractors working in the Riverdale/Finaghy area .

"As a result, we have withdrawn all services from the area until further notice.

"We understand our tenants’ frustration at having services withdrawn, however we take the safety and security of our employees and contractors very seriously and will not be providing services under these circumstances.

"We will continue to work with local representatives to find a resolution and get services resumed as soon as possible."
