Houses have started to collapse into the sea at Wamberal on the Central Coast.
At least two homes were partially collapsed on Saturday morning due to waves eating away the land behind and underneath the beachside residences.
Police said about 30 houses on Ocean View Drive had been evacuated on Friday as a precaution. Emergency services were on site on Saturday morning re-inspecting the damage to see if residents could return.
Drone images captured by Klayte McSweeny show the devastating impact erosion has had on the coastal area.
Mr McSweeny has checked out the situation several times over the past week and said he was shocked at how much the shore had washed away.
"I would say it's moved more than six metres of sand in a few days," he said. "It was just crazy."
Central Coast Mayor Lisa Matthews has called an extraordinary council meeting for this Monday night to receive a "thorough public update" about the unfolding erosion crisis at Wamberal and The North Entrance.
The council has closed off all beach access ways that lead onto major erosion areas at North Entrance and Wamberal and other major beaches.
At Jimmys Beach, where tonnes of sand has washed away this week, Winda Woppa Association president Mike Thew said the erosion had thankfully not worsened further on Friday night.
