Houses on land freed from mafia Atiq Ahmed completed in Prayagraj, PDA to allot under PMAY by lottery on June 9

PRAYAGRAJ: Now that the construction work for the houses being built by Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) on the land freed from mafia turned politician Atiq Ahamad has been completed, PDA would be conducting the lottery for the allotment of 76 houses built and to be allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY).

Earlier, after detailed scrutiny by district urban development agency (DUDA), it was found that 85% of the applicants did not fit into the criteria. As per the list, sent to PDA by DUDA, out of 6030 applicants, only 903 applications were found to be eligible and as per norms they would be considered for lottery against 76 houses being constructed in two multi-storied towers.

"We had asked DUDA to again scrutinise the applications and found that 1595 applicants were eligible, and they will be participating in the lottery that will be conducted on June 9 at PDA office", said vice chairman PDA, Arvind Kumar Chauhan.

DUDA was entrusted with the responsibility of completing the verification of those who had applied for the 76 flats being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on the land freed from the possession of Atiq Ahmed in Lukarganj.

PDA has constructed two blocks on the land measuring 1731 square meter and these would be ground plus three-storey buildings. Block A would have 36 houses while block B would have 40 houses.

The foundation stone of the ambitious project, which hogged the limelight during 2022 assembly elections, was laid by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in December 2021. The houses are being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on the land that is located under Allahabad West assembly seat.
