Houses in Ballyfermot evacuated after bomb squad called to deal with suspect device in Dublin

Houses in south Dublin were evacuated after the bomb squad were called to deal with a suspect device in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The Army bomb unit were called to the scene at around 12:30am on Tuesday morning in the Ballyfermot area of the city.

The device was found near a house in the area which was dealt with by the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal

A garda spokesman said: "The area was evacuated and the scene preserved for the Army EOD team.

"Suspect device seized by EOD for examination. Enquiries are ongoing."
