Houses evacuated as bomb squad called over suspect device found in Ballyfermot, Co Dublin

The Army bomb squad were called in and houses were evacuated after a suspect device was found outside a house in Co Dublin.

Gardai were called to the scene at around 12.30am on Tuesday morning.

The device was found near a house in the Ballyfermot area of the city.

Houses in the area were evacuated as the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal were called in to deal with the the device.

A garda spokesman said: "The area was evacuated and the scene preserved for the Army EOD team.

"Suspect device seized by EOD for examination. Enquiries are ongoing."
