Housebuilders sorry for tipped lorry which caused disruption in Nottinghamshire

A housebuilding firm has apologised for the disruption caused by a lorry that shed its load on a Nottinghamshire street - forcing its closure for hours. The vehicle was cordoned off in Thackeray's Lane just past its junction with Fisher Avenue in Woodthorpe on Tuesday, May 30.

Later that evening the same lorry was involved in an incident in nearby Sandfield Road, Arnold, which left a car damaged. It was one of two flatbed lorries transporting parts of factory built homes to a 131-house development off Rolleston Drive.

ilke Homes, which is delivering the homes, said it was an "isolated event" and said it would be reviewing the route. The homes are manufactured at the firm's 250,000 sq. ft factory in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, before being moved onto site.

Residents previously said the large lorries, were an "accident waiting to happen". An ilke Homes spokesperson said: “[Tuesday's] accident was an isolated event, during which no one was injured. As a modular house builder, we are able to minimise disruption to local communities by ensuring most of a scheme’s build stage takes place offsite in our Yorkshire factory.

"We apologise to the local Arnold community for any inconvenience caused. Looking ahead, we will be reviewing this route to see if improvements can be made.”

Modular Movements, the firm responsible for transporting the wide load, also said it was investigating the incident. ilke Homes is also building hundreds of modular houses for part of the Boots headquarters site in Beeston.
