The House is set to vote on legislation proposed by Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., that aims to establish a bipartisan commission to investigate the shooting incident at a Trump rally. The proposed 11-member committee would be tasked with thoroughly examining the actions of federal agencies, departments, officers, employees, as well as state and local law enforcement entities and individuals in relation to the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania.

According to a draft resolution, the commission would be required to issue a final report of its findings to the House by December 13, 2024. The report is expected to include any recommendations for legislative reforms that may be necessary to prevent similar security breaches in the future.
