IMPHAL: Manipur health officials on Saturday kicked off house-to-house Covid-19 testing across different parts of the state to combat the massive spread of the virus.
Under the overall supervision of the district administration, the officials carried out the testing campaign in Imphal West, Imphal East, Noney, Chandel and Kakching districts, sources said. In one his facebook posts on, chief minister N Biren Singh said, “House-to-house Covid-19 testing started at Achanbigei area, Imphal East District. Well done Imphal East team.”
Meanwhile, the state registered 788 fresh Covid-19 cases, including 430 women, and 7 deaths in the past 24 hours, a state health department said on Saturday. Currently, the total member of active and positive cases in the state stands at 6,908 and 76,820 respectively, while the death toll rose to 1,258.
On the other hand, 483 patients have recuperated from the disease, taking the cumulative number of recoveries of the state to 69,654. The recovery rate stands at 89.36%.
