Five people were in a house when it was set alight in a terrifying arson attack on Co Longford.
The incident happened in the early hours of the morning on Monday in the Annaly Gardens area.
Gardai were called to the scene at around 6.55am yesterday when the front door of the house was set alight while all five people inside the property were sleeping.
All of the occupants managed to escape from the house through an upstairs window.
It is understood that nobody was injured in the incident.
Fire crews also managed to put out the blaze.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are appealing for any persons who were in the Annally Park, Annally Gardens or Athlone Road areas between 6.30a.m. and 7.30a.m and that may have witnessed anything unusual or any road users who may have dash cam footage of that area or any information in relation to this attack to contact Longford Garda station on 043 - 3350570, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
