After a couple of posts expressing sympathy for the family involved, and asking why similar pieces had not been written about renters who faced eviction when their landlords sell up, discussion has turned to women and their affect on the housing market.

My friends who have bought houses recently have all done so to keep the peace with the missus. I'm amazed - do people really buy property to shut their other half up? Am I alone in thinking that most couples are equally committed to a purchase when they sign on the dotted line?
