Oct. 28--A four-bedroom, 3,512-square-foot Colonial-style house in Long Grove that WTMX-FM morning co-host Kathy Hart had owned from 2001 until 2013 sold on Oct. 16 for $620,000.
Hart, 51, had owned the house with her former husband, Bert Witte. The couple divorced several years ago, and in 2013 she deeded the house to Witte, who was the seller of record. He had first listed it in June for $695,000 and later reduced the asking price twice.
Built in 1989, the house sits on 1 acre and has three baths, hardwood floors, crown and panel moldings, fluted casings, a master suite with a steam shower and a sitting room, and a kitchen with granite countertops, tumbled marble, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and a double oven.
"The house was a great house," said listing agent Terry Dahlem of Coldwell Banker. "Kathy and Bert redid a lot of it, including the kitchen and bathrooms, and it's on a cul-de-sac that backs up to a conservancy. It's not a typical Long Grove house, in that it looks like a farmhouse. The new buyers are thrilled."
Although Lake County property records indicate that Hart and her then-husband had paid $650,000 for the house in late 2001, Dahlem disputed that, saying that the amount was less.
