House of the Dragon made its much-anticipated debut on Monday, and while most reactions to the first episode have been positive, many fans have complained about one particularly "dodgy" element of the show.
The new prequel series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and centres around the downfall of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war - known as the Dance of the Dragons. Stars of the series include The Crown’s Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, the heir to the throne, and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, the daughter of the king's hand.
Following the show’s debut episode on Monday, many fans took to social media to voice their concerns around one particular thing. Frustrated viewers pointed out the "dodgy" looking CGI throughout the episode and speculated the series must have a much lower budget than its epic predecessor.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: "House of the Dragon doesn't seem like it had the same budget as Game of Thrones. The CGI is subpar."
Another said: "A lot of the CGI in House of the Dragon was dogs**t."
“Anyone else feel like the CGI for house of the dragon is wayyy worse than the GOT? Those dragons look like rubber toys,” a third wrote.
The dragons were not the only things in the episode criticised for looking “cheap,” as others blasted the city of King’s Landing for looking like something out of a video game. Some fans pointed out the Croatian city of Dubrovnik was used to create King's Landing during the Game of Thrones era, and were confused as to why that tradition was not continued in this latest outing.
“Decent show, but disappointed by the poor CGI depiction of King's Landing from above. Would it have killed them to fly a drone over Dubrovnik Old Town??” one viewer said.
Despite the negativity surrounding its special effects, the premiere was largely well-received, with many fans already showing their anticipation for the next episode of the fantasy series. One fan wrote: "House of the dragon is so good omg I can't wait for the next episode."
Another said: "Obsessed with House of the Dragon I need the next episode now."
House of the Dragon airs at 9pm on Monday nights on Sky Atlantic.
