House of Cards writer Michael Dobbs has been appointed as a non-executive director at ad agency M&C Saatchi.
Lord Dobbs, who is also an executive producer on Netflix’s remake of House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey, was a special adviser and the chief of staff to Margaret Thatcher.
He went on to become deputy chairman of the Conservative party under John Major.
The 67-year-old will take up his position from 1 January and will also join the ad agency’s audit and remuneration committees.
M&C Saatchi has a long-standing relationship handling the Conservatives’ political advertising, including the “pocket Miliband” attack ad during this year’s general election.
Dobbs, who has presented current affairs at the BBC and been a columnist at the Mail on Sunday and the Daily Express, is also a director of Michael Dobbs Entertainment Limited.
