House of Cards season 6 star Robin Wright takes White House centre stage in first look at Netflix series

The first images for the sixth and final season of House of Cards have rolled in showing Claire Underwood in action as the US president.

Thus far, fans of the Netflix series has only had the season teased in a brief trailer which saw Robin Wright introduce viewers to what will be the first run of episodes since Kevin Spacey was fired following allegations of sexual misconduct.

“Were only getting started,” she says as the words 'Hail to the chief' appeared onscreen

There's still currently no word on when the new season will arrive but a release date announcement is expected to be imminent.

The series' fate was left in the balance after production was halted, however, it was later revealed the show would return for a final stand to reach its natural conclusion - and it has just eight episodes to do it in.

This means season 6 has almost been slashed in half considering the previous five seasons have each boasted a total of 13 episodes.

It was revealed earlier this year that Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane had been hired to appear in the final season which will see the return of Michael Kelly, Joel Kinnaman and Jayne Atkinson.
