House hunters find 'Harry Potter' child's bedroom with toilet underneath stairs

House hunters who spotted a bizarre child's bedroom with an unconcealed toilet on a property website have likened it to the tiny cupboard lived in by Harry Potter.

The unusual space within the three-bed semi-detached home in Stoke, Staffordshire, has now been seen by thousands of users on social media, with some questioning whether it actually belonged to the famous boy wizard.

In a listing on Right Move by Platinum Property estate agents, who have put the house up for £400,000, images showed a bunk bed wedged into the corner of a tiled room, with a TV balanced at the foot of it .

Directly opposite is a toilet and a sink, which is not separated from the rest of the room. The Spiderman-themed room also features a frosted glass window and a shower directly next to the bed.

The estate agents, whose website boasts that they are 'honest, straight talking and what you see is what you get', have since removed the images of the bedroom.

But the amused and bewildered responses to the unusual layout have not stopped, with some suggesting that the current residents may be taking the idea of an ensuite bedroom 'to a whole new level'.

Some house hunters compared the compact bedroom to Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs in Number 4 Privet Drive, while others eve likened it to a prison cell.

One person said "I assume the understairs cupboard was already occupied", to which another person said: "By Harry."

While someone else joked: "Mum, why is my bedroom window frosted over, and why do I have bathroom tiles round my bed?"

Others also questioned whether the toilet would still be used by residents while also being used as a bedroom, as one user observed: "I'm hoping they had more than one bathroom."

The online listing describes the house, which is split into two properties, as a 'period property requiring modernisation whilst offering enormous potential' boasting a left wing and right wing.

The lift wing features a porch, two reception rooms, a kitchen, utility room, toilet, a bedroom and shower room while the right wing has a porch, hallway, reception room, kitchen, rear hallway, two bedrooms, a 'wet room' and a bathroom.

Some likened the room to Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs in Number 4 Privet Drive (Warner Bros.)

The advert also boasts a large driveway with wrought iron double gates, a car port, lawn plants, shrubs and trees on a highly sought-after road.

The wet room is understood to be the room that is being used as a child's bedroom.

An eagle-eyed house hunter meanwhile pointed out that the bed may have been built over the bath, as they spotted a blanket hanging over the side covering whatever is underneath.

They wrote: "Judging by the tiles, they've built the bed over the bath?". Others also questioned why they needed to convert the bathroom into a bedroom in what has been advertised as a big house.

Platinum Property declined to comment.
