House help steals pistol for murder but Lucknow police foil plot

LUCKNOW: To avenge humiliation of his parents by his uncle, a man took up the job of house help in the home of son of a retired judge. His plan was to earn money and buy weapons from it to eliminate his uncle.

However, before he could execute the plan the plot was busted and the accused was nabbed by Hazratganj police.

The accused Vishal Giri was arrested with his aide Ritesh Giri. Police recovered a Spanish license pistol belonging to Rahat Quddusi, son of former Odisha high court judge IM Quddusi, along with cartridges and two mobile phones.

DCP, central zone, Aparna Gautam, who supervised the probe, said on December 31, Rahat Quddusi informed the police about theft of his licensed pistol, mobiles and cash from his residence in Lawrence Terrace in Hazratganj.

He suspected the role of his house help Vishal whom he had hired recently.

We grilled Salman, a former house help at Rahat’s home and on whose recommendation Vishal was hired.

“Salman gave Vishal’s address which was in Prayagraj. A police team rounded up Vishal. Initially, he claimed innocence but broke down during sustained grilling, ” said SHO, Hazratganj, Shyam Babu Shukla.

Vishal told the police that recently his parents were thrashed by his uncle in front of the entire village but he could do nothing and felt humiliated.

“From that day, I began searching for a good job in a city so that I earn money and arrange for weapons to kill my uncle. In the meantime, I met Salman who used to work at the house of a retired judge in Lucknow but he wanted to go on leave,” Vishal said in his statement to the police.

Vishal told the police that when he visited Rahat’s home on December 23, he saw a pistol with cartridges. He decided to steal it and kill his uncle with it. “I also involved my brother Ritesh who helped in concealing the weapon in my house in Prayagraj,” he said.
