House fire breaks out in Nottinghamshire as emergency services called to the scene

A house fire broke out in Nottinghamshire - and one person was treated by paramedics.

The incident in Kirkby Road, Ravenshead, happened in the early hours of Monday, December 27, at around 5am.

Four firefighters, a hose reel jet, thermal imaging cameras and breaking in gear were required to extinguish the fire.

Fire and rescue service chiefs said the tenant stopped the fire from spreading as he had made sure that the door to the room where the fire broke out was closed before going to bed.

One person was treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) for smoke inhalation.

A statement on the Ashfield Fire Service Facebook page on December 27 read: "Firefighters from Ashfield, Mansfield and Blidworth attended a house fire at around 5am in Ravenshead.

"On arrival smoke could be seen issuing from the building.

"The fire was extinguished by four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using hose reel jets, thermal imaging camera and breaking in gear was also used."

It added: "Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke from the property.

"The occupier was awakened by his smoke alarm activating and had also closed the door to the fire room before going to bed, this prevented the fire and smoke spreading around the home.

"1 casualty was treated by EMAS for smoke inhalation."
