House explosion in Whitburn as man rushed to hospital after horror incident

A man has been rushed to hospital following a horror house explosion in Whitburn.

Cops swooped on the scene at a property in Dixon Road when the alarm raised at 9.30am on Tuesday morning.

A man was taken from the property and rushed to hospital by ambulance.

His condition is unknown at this time.

Emergency services swamped the area with police, fire crews, ambulances and support staff all on scene.

A neighbouring house was evacuated and a cordon was set up around the damaged property to protect the public.

A police spokesman said: “Around 9.30am on Tuesday, 8 December, 2020, police and emergency services were called to a report of an explosion in a house in Dixon Road, Whitburn.

"The male householder was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and another man was treated by paramedics at the scene.

“No details on injury - if any - at this time. A neighbouring house has been evacuated as a precaution.

“Emergency services remain at the scene assisted by relevant utility company.  The local council are aware.

“Enquiries in to the circumstances surrounding the explosion are continuing.”
