House Dems issue an April 4 deadline for submission of Kushner's encrypted documents

House Democrats have issued an April 4 deadline to the White House for the submission of documents about Jared Kushner's official email and encrypted WhatsApp messaging practices, in addition to documents on Ivanka Trump, former Trump strategist Stephen Bannon, and former deputy national security adviser K.T. McFarland, Politico reports.

Driving the news: Kushner’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, told House Democrats that Kushner is complying with records preservation laws in his WhatsApp messages by sending screenshots to his White House email. According to a letter obtained by Politico from House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, Lowell also stated that Ivanka Trump conducts White House business from her personal email — which could be in violation of the Presidential Records Act.
