WASHINGTON _ Oregon Democrat Kurt Schrader was sworn into Congress on Tuesday after missing official swearing in for his honeymoon overseas.
Speaker Paul D. Ryan conducted the swearing-in just after noon and announced the House now numbers 435.
Schrader was elected to his fifth term this year but was out of the country when the rest of Congress was sworn in on Jan. 3.
He missed six roll call votes over the last week, but was not listed as not voting because he technically was not a member of Congress.
Schrader's wife is Susan Mora, former head of federal affairs for Pepco. The couple got married on New Year's Eve in Maryland and honeymooned "out of the country," a spokeswoman said last week.
