House! Big bingo win as Motherwell local strikes it lucky

A Motherwell local struck gold when they won a life-changing split of £50,000.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, called ‘house’ on the National Bingo Game Jackpot at Buzz Bingo in the town’s Orbiston Street and won a tidy share of the £50,000 jackpot - £16,667.

Two other lucky winners across the UK scooped up the other two thirds of the prize, including one at Enfield Buzz Bingo.

The Motherwell local has been a bingo fan for the last 40 years and since the Buzz Bingo Motherwell club reopened in May, has played five to ten games a week.

The lucky winner plans to spend their winnings on some home renovations and to help their two grandchildren buy their first homes.

Not only a treat for the winner, all those that attended Buzz Bingo Motherwell received £100 to celebrate the win as part of the celebrations being held for National Bingo Day.

Angela McPhee, club manager, told Lanarkshire Live : “We’re absolutely chuffed to have had a National Bingo Game Jackpot winner on National Bingo Day.

“Everyone was cheering and clapping, we were so pleased for our lucky winner.”

Chief retail officer at Buzz Bingo, Peter Brigden, added: “The atmosphere in the club when there’s a big win is always incredible, and we’re delighted to see one of our Motherwell players scoop up a share of the £50,000 National Bingo Game jackpot.

“Five lucky players won a share of the jackpots available on National Bingo Day, three of them from Buzz Bingo clubs across the UK. A great result for our lovely customers!”

Following careful government guidelines, all Buzz Bingo clubs have now reopened their doors to customers.

Each of these clubs has extensive health and safety measures in place including a maximum capacity, Perspex screens and floor markers to enable social distancing.
