Hours of traffic chaos as unlucky bus driver gets double-decker wedged under bridge

An unlucky commute for many weekend workers this afternoon (March 12) - after a bus driver got his double-decker wedged under a bridge.

Fairfax Road, Prestwich, was forced to shut at around 12.30pm following the mishap, which saw the vehicle stuck fast.

Pictures from the scene show the bus unable to move after becoming jammed beneath the railway bridge.

The road remained closed in both directions until just after 4pm.
