Hours of heavy rain set to hit Nottingham TODAY as predicted by Met Office

Heavy rain is set to batter Nottinghamshire for four hours today, according to the Met Office.

Despite a cloudy and dry start to the day, rain is on its way and is predicted to stay for most of the day.

Between 10am and 11am light rain will hit, before we see a four hour downpour of heavy rain over lunch time.

From 10am to 1pm there is between a 90 and 100 per cent chance of rain, with temperatures set to be around 15C.

There will then be respite as conditions turn to cloudy between 3pm and 5pm, with temperatures around 17C.

But just when you think the rain is over, more is predicted for this evening.

Another heavy shower is forecast between 5pm and 6pm, before two hours of light rain between 6pm and 8pm, the period of time when the temperature will hit a high of 21C.

The rest of the evening will be warm and cloudy.

There are no Met Office weather warnings in place for the rain, but precautions should be taken as roads are expected to wet and spray could make driving conditions poor.

What is the forecast for the rest of the weekend?

Saturday (July 20) is set to be cloudy in the morning turning to sunny intervals in the afternoon, before full sun in the evening. Temperature highs of 22C and lows of 13C.

Sunday (July 21) is forecast to see full sun during the early morning, with conditions changing at 10am to cloudy for the rest of the day. No rain predictions as yet. Temperature highs of 23C and lows of 17C.

The weather is set to change again next week as Monday (July 22) is predicted to see highs of 26C, Tuesday (July 23) is forecast to reach 29C and Wednesday (July 24) is set to see highs of 29C.

So if you get caught in the thunder or rain today, just think to yourself that shorts, flip flops and ice creams will be on the card next week.
