Hours after a woman was found guilty of shooting two people during a violent drug rip, she allegedly rang her boyfriend's ex and told her she "was not scared to do it again".
Dakota Rhianne Clarke sat crying in a pink dressing gown at Raymond Terrace Police Station on Thursday, July 23, as her lawyer made a bid for her release on a fresh charge in bail court.
The afternoon before, she had walked from Newcastle District Court on bail after a jury was left with no doubt she had been involved in a double shooting at Gateshead in September 2023.
Her conditions - including to be of good behaviour - were continued after the Crown did not press to have her detained ahead of sentencing.
Just after 6.30pm, while Clarke allegedly claims she was at the pub, police say she called a woman and threatened her.
Police allege the woman had been in a relationship with Elijah Cage, who is serving more than 21 years in jail for murder, before he began a relationship with Clarke.
Clarke gave evidence at Cage's murder trial.
Prosecutors say Clarke called the woman out of jealousy on Wednesday night and began berating her, telling her to stop ringing her "man" and stop visiting him in jail.
Clarke is accused of telling the woman she had just been found guilty of the grievous bodily harm offences and "was not scared to do it again". She allegedly said she "had nothing to lose" now.
Police allege Clarke went to the woman's home and told her to "get the f--- out the front" before going to her workplace and asking her manager where she was.
Legal Aid solictor Mungo Skyring said Clarke strongly denied the allegations. He said it was not a strong prosecution case and that Clarke had a medical condition that needed treatment.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Ashlee Uren opposed Clarke's release. She argued Clarke had not shown cause to be in the community and that she posed an unacceptable risk.
Judge James Viney granted Clarke strict bail, including to live under a house arrest condition at Fern Bay.
"You are skating on very thin ice," he warned her.
"There's a good chance next time you will be locked up."
The one charge of stalk or intimidate was adjourned to Raymond Terrace Local Court next week.
Clarke and another man, Emmett Sheard, had faced a two-week trial in Newcastle District Court earlier this month over a double shooting on September 21, 2023. Both had denied having anything to do with it.
The jury on Wednesday found them not guilty of the more serious charges of shooting at the man with the intent to murder him, and not guilty of wounding the woman in the process.
They were found guilty of two alternative charges each, of shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to the pair inside the house.
Clarke and Sheard entered the house at Gateshead under the guise of a routine drug purchase before Sheard pulled a rifle from his tracksuit pants and ultimately shot a man in the arm and a woman in the leg.
Sheard remains in custody. Both will find out their fates at a later date.
