Hour-long delays on M62 after crash involving motorcyclist

The M62 heading eastbound was closed this morning after an accident involving a cyclist.

The crash took place just after 6am at junction 18 with the M60 and M66 at Simister Island.

Three lanes of the M62 eastbound were closed.

The motorway reopened at around 7.40am, but there continue to be delays in the area.

Traffic is tailing back to junction 13 for Worsley and is causing queues along the M60 clockwise.

Traffic is also reportedly slow on the opposite side of the motorway due to 'earlier on-lookers', according to traffic service Inrix.

The current estimation for delays is 55 minutes.

Transport for Greater Manchester has advised that drivers should seek an alternative route or allow extra time for their journey this morning.
