The Met Office has predicted that sunny spells are predicted to continue in the North East.
The weather authority says most areas of the region should expect an "increasingly warm day with long sunny spells" with a maximum temperature of 16C on Wednesday. The Met Office's weather forecast for today states: "Perhaps some low cloud towards coasts initially, elsewhere a bright start.
"An increasingly warm day with long sunny spells and a gentle easterly breeze. A little patchy cloud is possible later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 16C."
This afternoon patchy cloud is set to appear later and continue to before dusk. Tonight's weather forecast states: "Patchy cloud and sunny intervals before dusk this evening.
"Breezy with long clear spells overnight and a patchy ground frost developing. Low cloud possible near coasts by dawn. Minimum temperature -1C."
