A weather warning remains in place for the North East as wintry conditions take hold.
Drivers are being warned of icy roads after overnight sleet and rain and some areas on higher ground may see more snow.
The first snow of the year fell on Saturday with parts of Northumberland and County Durham seeing the heaviest.
The Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place until 11am on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary urged drivers to take care on roads in the county including the A19 due to heavy patches of ice.
The weather warning says: "Icy patches are expected to develop, especially on untreated surfaces, where snow has fallen on Saturday and where showers are frequent this evening and overnight.
"Showers will also be wintry at times, mainly inland and particularly over higher ground where above 200-300m a further few centimetres of snow is possible in places."
