Hour by hour weather forecast as snow hits the North East with yellow warnings in place

Snow and freezing temperatures have hit parts of the North East this morning.

A yellow warning for snow and strong winds is in place over the western part County Durham and Northumberland until this afternoon, after some areas woke up to a white dusting on December 26.

Snow has also caused disruption on the roads with heavy snow closing the A66 near Scotch Corner.
