Hour-by-hour weather forecast as North East set for cloudy end to week

The glorious sunshine is set to disappear with the clouds moving in to provide a more gloomy end to the week in the North East.

Friday will see a dry start with some scattered showers and sunny spells. Cloud is set to quickly increase through the day and into the beginning of the weekend.

Showers are to arrive this morning becoming more widespread in the afternoon. These will be locally heavy with a small chance of thunder. Sunny intervals in-between. The maximum temperature will be 17 °C.

Tonight residual showers will quickly fade away leaving clear spells and light winds. Then later tonight areas of cloud will arrive with a chance of hill fog developing across the Pennines. Th minimum temperature will be 6 °C.
