Hour by hour weather forecast as heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Greater Manchester

Heavy rain hit Greater Manchester today and forecasters have issued a yellow weather alert warning of possible thunderstorms.

Travel disruption and potential power loss could be possible in some areas with the warning is in place from 1pm until 9pm on Thursday evening.

Flooding and damage to buildings could also occur as a result of the storms, the warning said.

Thunderstorms are expected to break out this evening with 10-15mm of rainfall expected.

Motorists should take extra care on the roads (PA)

Here are the latest hour by hour predictions by forecasters at The Met Office.

6pm

Showers and a gentle breeze. The temperature will be around 19 degrees but feel around 21.

7pm

Rain and storms are possible with chance of lightning and a 50 per cent chance of rain. Temperatures will be around 20 degrees.

8pm

It’ll turn cloudy with a 10 per cent chance of rain and temperatures of 19 degrees.

9pm

The cloud will remain but there’s a chance of some sunshine breaking through.

Temperatures will stick around 19 degrees and forecasters say there is less than a five per cent chance of rain.

10pm

Still cloudy, temperatures will drop to around 18 degrees with a less than a five per cent chance of rain.

11pm

Temperatures will drop further to 17 degrees with less than a five per cent chance of rain

Midnight

It’ll stay around 17 degrees with a less than five per cent chance of rain.
