Hour-by-hour weather forecast as Greater Manchester set for scorcher

After being lashed by a thunderstorm yesterday, Greater Manchester is heating up to 23C today (Tuesday 17 May), making it hotter than Monaco.

Mancunians will wake up to warm sunshine this morning, after early low cloud and mist lifts. There will be plenty of sunny intervals and conditions will remain 'predominantly dry' from the morning through to the afternoon, according to the Met Office.

Temperatures will peak at 23C from around 3pm as the sun continues to shine, mirroring the fine weather the region had on Saturday. But it will quickly turn rainy, with light showers to begin falling from 6pm.

These will soon become heavy and will continue into the night - but fortunately no thunderstorms are on the horizon. The bands of heavy rain may be 'accompanied by some gusty winds' in places, as they move east across the north west, the Met Office says.

Temperatures will remain in double digitals overnight, falling to 10C. Clearer, drier conditions will follow on Wednesday (18 May), with the morning starting 'dry and bright' for most. Any low cloud will clear, letting up to plenty more sunshine, which can become 'rather hazy at times.'

Temperatures will be similar to today, peaking at 22C. Cloud will creep back in from mid-afternoon but there will be no rain in sight, other than a light downpour during the later hours of the night.
