The North East looks set for a day of all seasons with sunny weather leading to more unsettled periods into the evening.
The Met Office have predicted that the region will experience a wide range of conditions over the course of today, with sunny spells and showers on the way. There is also the chance of heavier downpours in some areas with thunder also a possibility.
The Met Office have forecast the following conditions for the North East today: "A fine, bright start in many places. Cloud building through the morning with scattered showers developing, these turning locally heavy and thundery during the afternoon.

"Pleasant sunny spells in between showers. Mainly light or gentle winds. Maximum temperature 17C."
Thankfully, the worst of the damp conditions seem to be confined to earlier in the day with the showers likely to subside by the evening.
The Met Office have forecast these conditions for this evening: "Showers fading away by the middle of the evening to leave a mainly dry night with clear spells.
"Drizzle developing later across the Pennines as cloud increases from the west. Minimum temperature 5C."
