Snow has begun falling again in the North East.
Areas including Wrekenton in Gateshead have seen snowfall on Tuesday morning as temperatures continue to plummet.
The Met Office predicts wintry showers in the morning before it becomes drier and brighter later in the day.
However, frost and freezing fog are expected during the night.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Cold with frost or freezing fog patches at first.
"Showers moving south across the region in the morning, perhaps turning to sleet or snow.
"Drier and brighter later, with showers becoming restricted to the coast, but feeling cold. Maximum temperature 3 °C.
"Mainly dry with clear spells this evening, temperatures falling towards zero allowing frost or freezing fog patches to form.
"Scattered showers developing through the early hours, maybe wintry inland. Minimum temperature -2 °C."
