The mixed Spring weather looks set to continue in the North East with showers and bright spells over the course of Tuesday.
According to the Met Office, the region will be set for more overcast conditions in the morning with cloud cover eventually breaking as we head into the afternoon. A mild 12 °C is expected to be the high in the North East.
This comes after a long Bank Holiday weekend which was characterised by similar weather with some bright spells and mild conditions.

According to the Met Office, you should expect the following conditions over the course of today: "Tuesday starting cloudy with some outbreaks of rain and showers, however amounts will probably be small. Cloud will thin and break through the morning with some brighter spells possible for the afternoon with mainly dry weather. Light winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C."
As we head into the evening, the Met Office is forecasting a fall in temperatures to a chillier 7 °C. It is also likely that the region will experience some more rain with this becoming widespread in the North East over the course of the evening.
The leading meteorologists have forecast the following conditions for this evening: "A cloudy night is likely with rain spreading from the northwest to reach all parts by around midnight. The wettest conditions probably across the Cheviots and Pennines. Minimum temperature 7 °C."
