The North East is set for a day of pleasant sunny weather as the region heads into the Easter weekend.
The Met Office have forecast warm temperatures for the North East with highs of 16 °C. This is set to be accompanied by a pleasant gentle wind and sunshine heading into the afternoon with cloud increasing heading into the evening.
The leading meteorologists have predicted the following conditions for today: "A dry day with spells of sunshine, albeit a bit hazy at times as cloud increases during the afternoon. Winds will be light and it will feel relatively warm. Maximum temperature 16 °C."

If you are planning on staying outside over the course of the evening, you might want to pack a jacket or coat with temperatures likely to drop to a more chilly 7 °C at most as the night sets in. There is also a chance of rain in some areas overnight.
The Met Office have predicted the following conditions overnight in our region: "Thickening cloud through the evening may produce the odd spot of light rain overnight, but generally it will remain dry. Minimum temperature 7 °C."
