The Met Office has predicted a dull and, in some parts, rainy Tuesday morning for the region. After a weekend of glorious sunshine, forecasters have predicted a cloudier start to Tuesday with overcast expected for most of the day.
Parts of the region could even be hit by snow this week as its predicted showers on Wednesday and Thursday could turn to snow on high ground. Hill snow is likely to affect some parts of Scotland on Tuesday night, with higher areas of the UK to follow on Wednesday said forecaster Marco Petagna. He said: "We'll get a taste of most of the seasons within the space of a few days."
The forecast for the region says overnight showers on Wednesday and Thursday could turn to snow on high ground. Tuesday's weather forecast for the North East predicts "occasional showers" from the late morning which could possibly turn heavy at times.

A statement on the website read: "Low cloud and fog at first, gradually clearing to sunny spells. Occasional showers from late morning, possibly turning heavy at times. Thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain will arrive in the north of the area late afternoon. Maximum temperature 12 °C."
And for tonight, this rain is predicted to turn to snow over high ground by Wednesday morning as temperatures are predicted to drop to around -3°C. The weather forecast for tonight states: "The band of rain will continue to move southwards this evening and overnight, turning to snow over high ground by Wednesday morning. Minimum temperature -3 °C."
